Wentworth Freestyle
Wentworth Freestyle is a Freestyle Canada sanctioned program run by Ski Wentworth as a separate club, focused on athlete and coach development, safety, fun and progression for all levels from recreational to competitive athletes. Athletes are divided into groups based on age and ability. Parents are expected to volunteer with site construction, competitions and fundraising events.

The FUNdamentalz program is designed to introduce young skiers to freestyle skiing. Skiers need to be able to load and unload the chair lift unassisted and comfortably ski blue runs in a wide parallel stance. We have two half-day sessions to choose from.
Saturdays 10am-12pm $325.00 plus HST and Freestyle NS membership
Sundays 10am-12pm $325.00 plus HST and Freestyle NS membership

The Development program is a pathway aimed at skiers who have surpassed the Black Diamond level in the Fundamentalz program. It is tailored for skiers eager to build on their foundational skills, focused on Freesking (glades and steeps), slopestyle, moguls, and big air training. While participants have the option to attend freestyle and freeski competitions, the primary goal is to build a strong foundation for future performance in freestyle. Airbag and trampoline training are available at an extra cost, providing options for skill development.
Saturday and Sunday registration, 1230-430 pm. $1195.00 plus HST and Freestyle NS Membership
One day (Saturday or Sunday) 12:30-4:30 pm $800.00 plus HST and Freestyle NS membership

The Competitive Development Program is the next step for skiers with a solid foundation from the Development Program, aimed to help transition their skills into a competitive setting. This program is ideal for those competing at the provincial level and beyond. Athletes in this program will further develop their skills in Freesking, Slopestyle, Moguls and Big Air, applying them in a competitive environment. This program acts as the bridge between the Development program training and the High-Performance team. Optional airbag and trampoline are available at an extra cost to supplement the program.

One of Canada’s most highly certified coaches, and coach developer. Coach Thor has been involved in freestyle skiing at Ski Wentworth for over 20 years as both an athlete and a coach. Under his coaching leadership, Ski Wentworth athletes have achieved Canadian Junior and Senior titles. Thor was the head coach of the 2011, 2015, 2019, and Nova Scotia Canada Games teams and currently works with high-performance athletes.

Cam Anderson worked his way through the Wentworth Freestyle program first as an athlete and now as an up-and-coming coach. Coach Cam works with the Development athletes on the trampoline, airbags, and on snow, and is often referred to as the nicest coach ever!

Jessica is a Development coach and has been involved in freestyle skiing since joining the Wentworth Freestyle program as a young athlete. Jess has many years of experience traveling across Canada to training camps, and events, and has competed for Team Nova Scotia in the Canada Winter Games. Jessica has taken her passion for freestyle and directed it toward coaching and helping young athletes progress. Jessica is an excellent role model, especially to the young up-and-coming females in our sport
